Friends Baptist Church Baby Dedication 2027

A commitment to the Lord

Baby dedication expresses a commitment by parents, supported by their church family, to raise a child in the Lord. As parents, we commit our parental lives to Him and His command to raise our child to honor and glorify Him.

Dedication is not baptism. It does not save a child or assure that a child will one day be saved. Each child will need to respond personally to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.Ephesians 6:4, KJV

A dedication that continues at home

You do not need a complicated routine to begin teaching your child about the Lord. Small, faithful habits can make room for Scripture, prayer, and conversation in ordinary family life.

Read together

Set aside a brief, regular time for Scripture. Read a few verses, explain a simple truth about God, and invite questions as your child grows. Begin with what your child can understand.

Pray in everyday moments

Thank the Lord at meals, pray before bed, and bring worries to Him together. Let your child hear you ask for wisdom, confess sin, and give thanks.

Teach through your example

Show kindness, keep your word, and ask forgiveness when you are wrong. Talk about how God’s Word shapes your choices as a family.

A conversation for parents

What do we want our child to learn about Christ from our example? Which simple habit could we begin this week? Who can encourage us to be faithful when parenting is difficult?

Try a simple family rhythm

Read a short Scripture passage, share one thing to thank God for, and pray about one need. Keep it suited to your child’s age and attention span. Return to the habit with patience when a day is difficult.

Let us pray with your family

Ask the Lord for wisdom, patience, unity, and grace in your home. Pray that your child will come to know Christ and grow in His Word.

On our prayer form, you can choose to share your request with the pastoral staff, the prayer team and church, or both.
