What we believe

What is baptism?

Obedience

Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation.

An outward sign

It serves as an outward symbol of our decision to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ.

A public declaration

Water baptism is a public declaration of three things:

  • You are a follower of Jesus Christ
  • You are beginning a changed life in Christ
  • You are part of a new Christian family

A symbol

Baptism is also a symbol of Cleansing by the Spirit of God and the Blood of Jesus. This reflects the forgiveness of our sins, the cleansing of our conscience and purification of our hearts. Baptism is also a symbol of change and willingness to go to the next level in your relationship with Jesus. Baptism serves as a point in life where we take the step of surrendering and giving our lives to Jesus.

Know what to expect

Baptism questions, answered.

Does baptism save you?

No, baptism does not save you. It is an outward sign of an inward change.

Do we believe in infant baptism?

Because baptism is an outward sign of an inward change, and comes after your decision to follow Christ, there would be no benefit for an infant to be baptized.

Do I need to be baptized to be saved?

No, baptism does not save you. You get baptized after salvation because you are saved.

How do we get baptized?

The root word for baptism is baptizo, which means to immerse or submerge. Just like every example we see in scripture, we also follow the root meaning of the word and baptize by full immersion.
