A Battle You Can’t See
Yesterday we discovered that God wants to renew the way we think.
Today, let’s answer another question: Why does that matter so much? Because every day there is a battle taking place—not merely for your behavior, but for your perspective. Most people think Satan tempted Eve with a piece of fruit. He didn’t. Before Eve ever reached for the fruit, she listened to a different voice. The serpent didn’t begin with a command. He began with a question.
“Yea, hath God said…?”
His goal wasn’t simply to get Eve to eat the fruit. His goal was to get Eve to question the One who gave the command. The enemy knew that if he could change the way she viewed God, her actions would eventually follow. The same strategy hasn’t changed. Rarely does Satan begin by inviting us into obvious rebellion.
Instead, he whispers subtle lies that slowly distort our perspective.
- “God doesn’t really care about you.”
- “God is holding out on you.”
- “God has forgotten you.”
- “You know what’s best for your life.”
Those thoughts may seem small, but if left unchecked, they become the lens through which we begin to interpret everything around us.
Digging Deeper
Notice the progression in Genesis 3.
- First, Satan questioned God’s Word.
- Then he questioned God’s character.
- Finally, Eve questioned God’s goodness.
Nothing about God had changed. Nothing about the Garden had changed. The only thing that changed… was Eve’s perspective. That’s exactly how temptation still works today. Before we ever drift from God with our actions, we usually begin drifting from Him in our thinking. That’s why renewing our minds isn’t optional.
It’s essential.
Take a few moments to quietly answer these questions before the Lord.
- What voice has been influencing me the most lately?
- Are my thoughts shaped more by God’s Word or by my fears?
- Is there an area where I’ve started believing something about God that simply isn’t true?
- What promise from Scripture do I need to believe today?
Today’s Challenge
Today, pay attention to your thoughts. The moment you recognize fear, discouragement, or doubt creeping into your mind, stop and ask yourself one simple question:
“Did God really say that?”
If the answer is “no,” don’t dwell on the lie. Replace it with the truth of Scripture. Remember, every thought you entertain is helping shape the lens through which you’ll see your day.
Remember Sunday’s Truth
The road didn’t change. The windshield did.
Today, ask yourself:
Who is shaping the windshield?

I’m praying that today you’ll recognize the difference between the voice of fear and the voice of your Father. His voice always leads you toward truth, hope, and trust.
Tomorrow we’ll discover something that changes the way we pray. So often we ask God to remove our problems. But what if He’s more interested in changing us than changing our circumstances? We’ll see how God often transforms our perspective before He transforms our situation.
