The Table of Love
Scripture Focus:
“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” — John 13:34
Reflection:
Thursday brings us to the table — the Upper Room, where Jesus shared His final meal with the disciples. He broke bread, poured wine, and washed feet. And then, He spoke these tender words: “Love one another as I have loved you.”
It was more than a meal. It was a moment of deep intimacy and powerful humility. Jesus knew the betrayal was near. He knew the cross was hours away. Yet, He chose to serve, to teach, to love.
The foot-washing wasn’t just an act of kindness; it was a divine model of servant-hearted leadership. The bread and wine weren’t just symbolic — they were sacred reminders of the sacrifice to come.
How do we love? Do we serve with humility? Do we forgive freely? Do we sit at the table and remember what He gave so we could be made whole?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the table of grace. Thank You for loving me to the end. Teach me to love like You — humbly, sacrificially, and without condition. May my life reflect the love You poured out that night, and may I never forget the cost of that love. Amen.
Takeaway Thought:
Love led Him to the table. Love washed feet. Love bore the cross. Let love lead you, too.
