Wednesday
The Silent Betrayal
Scripture Focus:
“Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said [unto them], What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.” — Matthew 26:14–15
Reflection:
This Wednesday is often called “Spy Wednesday” because it marks the day Judas Iscariot secretly plotted to betray Jesus. While others were worshiping, listening, and following, Judas was negotiating betrayal — all in the quiet shadows.
Judas walked with Jesus. He witnessed miracles, heard the teachings, and shared meals. But somewhere in his heart, greed and disillusionment took root. And in one exchange of silver, he traded away the Savior.
It’s a day that reminds us to examine our own hearts. Do we profess loyalty with our lips but deny Him with our lives? Do we allow bitterness, pride, or selfish desires to quietly betray our love for Christ?
The betrayal may have been silent, but its consequences were not. And still, Jesus knew — and chose the cross anyway.
Prayer:
Jesus, search my heart. Expose anything in me that quietly pulls me away from You. Forgive me for the ways I’ve betrayed Your love — in words, actions, or silence. Thank You for choosing the cross even knowing my failures. Help me live each day in loyalty and love. Amen.
Takeaway Thought:
Even in betrayal, Jesus moved forward in love. He sees your heart — and He still chooses you.
